FAQ

What is a dead small link?
Have you ever wanted to send a friend an email with a link in, but their email program made the link not work? Or perhaps you just want to be able to remember a link. Take a look at this one:

http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=50.819049
~-0.152331&style=h&lvl=18&scene=4352837

Fancy trying to remember that? Or write it down? If not, you can use this service to create a link that looks a lot more friendly. You can send it to anyone, and it will invisibly forward their internet browser to the right place. Try this link now:

http://deadsmall.com/2

Easier, right? Now feel free to start making your own.

Why do this again? There are so many URL shortening services out there!
Why not? It was fun and took an hour of figuring out the best way to do URL rewriting in ASP.NET. (The answer, if you're interested, is don't bother writing a fiddly HTTP module, because you then have to instruct IIS to send all file types to the ASP.NET ISAPI filter first. The quick way is to send all 404s to an ASPX of your creation, and read the Request.RawURL property to find the requested link).

Some spammer is using your links
Argh! Intolerable! Let me know straight away, please.
